Barbara's telling of the story is eerie - her unemotional character reminded me of Kath in Never Let Me Go, and early in the book it is hard to tell if it's because she is acting like a reporter, jealous, or for some other reason. CATE Blanchett discusses the challenges of filming Notes On A Scandal and some of its more controversial elements, such as her character's decision to have sex with a minor. However, I'm mystified by all the critical acclaim she's received for Scandal, as I didn't think there was much "juice" in the part or in Blanchett's work. To think that this same woman is going to be in charge of the same division of the same people who spoke out against Obamacare, she's going to have to go against about 50% of the country. Even as a kid, Fran would give me that look that made me squirm and not look in her eye when I'd complain about something and she'd ask, “ok but what did you do to bring this on yourself?” She always made me look One night, just your average Tuesday, Rob and I were in the elevator of my apartment building laughing about something, when he looked me right in the eye and said, “I want you to really think about letting me take you out. Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize Now the Major Motion Picture Notes on a Scandal Schoolteacher Barbara Covett has led a solitary life until Sheba Hart, the new art teacher at St. Cate Blanchett in Notes on a Scandal (2006). She is quite honest in her observations of others (I think blunt is the right word here!) In conclusion, I loved Notes on a Scandal and I am now looking forward to both seeing the movie and reading Heller's The Believers. For my 20th Century Brit Lit class we finally read a book that isn't completely boring and it wasn't written in the early 1900′s. €� Doocy: Well, this is a little scary.
